Radicchio is a type of chicory, with a slightly bitter and spicy flavour, that is good for blood clotting, bone and artery health. Radicchio has been around for some time with Pliny the Elder mentioning it in his encyclopedic Naturalis Historica, circa 79 A.D. he also says it was the Egyptians who bred radicchio from chicory.
